Love Your Enemies

Have you ever felt that no matter how hard you tried, you could never forgive someone who had hurt you terribly in some way. IT may have been something they said that hurt your feelings or something they did to you that you felt you could never in a million years forgive them for the ruthless thing in which they had done. The truth is Christ forgave us and forgives us daily for the many wrongs in which we do when we ask for his forgiveness. Is it not right that we should show him the same respect in forgiving others just as he has forgiven us.
Take just a moment to stop and think what Jesus went through for you and I. All the pain and suffering he was faced with and all because he Loved us so very much, so much in fact that he gave his life on the cross at Calvary so that each and every one of us could have the joy of Salvation and Eternal Life if we would just accept and believe that he died for us, to save us from our sins.
There was a man from Munich, a minister who was faced with a guard who had stood watch over him when he was imprisoned at the processing center in Ravensbruck. Many people died, thousands actually.
To thank, as you say, He has washed my sins away!
Even as the angry, vengeful thoughts boiled through him, he saw the sin in this man and he also saw that Jesus had also died for this man. Lord Jesus, he prayed, forgive me and help me to forgive him. Dear Lord, please give me your forgiveness so that I may do as you would have me to do.
As he took the mans hand, the most incredible thing happened. From his shoulder, along his arm and through his hand a current seemed to pass from him into the man while into his heart sprang a love for this stranger that almost overwhelmed him.And so he discovered that it is not on our forgiveness any more than on our goodness that the world's healing hinges, but on HIS. When the Lord tells us to love our enemies, He gives, along with the command, the LOVE ITSELF.., Let us Pray..
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for bringing peace into our lives Lord. Thank you for helping us to furthermore understand the need for forgiveness from within ourselves for those who we must forgive Lord, "our enemies" for we should not hold onto grudges Lord and let the fire of evil darkness engulf our lives but instead reach out and forgive and love one another no matter the circumstance, just as you Lord forgave us.Lord we all to often forget what we did that led to you being crucified Lord upon the cross. We chose not to let you live Lord but instead we set a murderer free and instead let you, the one who had walked upon this earth spreading love, peace, miracles and eternal salvation to those who would believe, and yet you still loved us and you forgave us Lord. Please Lord help us that we too can come to know this love as you have that we too can forgive and love not only our enemies but each other now and throughout eternity. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.....
